A detailed description of each product can be found at the bottom of the page. Here is a summary of our products and the types of tea that we specialise in.
TEA
We began our business determined to change the way tea is consumed in England. Tea is all produced from a single plant Camellia Sinsensis and yet manages to produce incredible variety by differing climate, altitude and manufacture.
ASSAM
If you are looking for a proper cup of tea look no further. Assam is a district of North East India forever associated with British tea. We source First flush, Second flush and Super Tippy Golden Assam from the Tirupati Estate. An intersting feature of Assam tea is that it is made with a native bush rather than ... more of this later.
DARJEELING
Drive to Heathrow, Fly to Kolkota, get the Darjeeling mail overnight to Silguri Junction, Take the Darjeeling Himalya railway to Ghoom [the highest passenger station in the world], find a taxi to take you to the end of the road at the start of the Poobong Estate and then walk eight miles to arrive at this fabulously remote spot. On the way up you will pass literally dozens of Darjeeling tea estates. You can either wonder why we choose to buy from the most remote or we can let you into a secret. When we exhibit this is the tea that the other tea merchants always ask to taste. Frankly this is the jewel in the Crown in our list. First flush Darjeeling drunk on its own is one of those knock out drinks that has the Wow factor. This is the tea to take without milk and sugar but with afternoon tea. Use this product to enhance your lifestyle.
SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka is nearer the equator than India and produces tea all the year round. The high altitude tea we get from this island is an astonishingly consistent clean refreshing drink.
NILGIRIS
This tea is so good the Indians drink it themselves and it is not exported in large quantities. This is the tea we drink ourselves with our breakfast. The tea has a great aroma and is perfect with lighter food.
YERBA MATE
We took some convincing to stock this and even more convincing to drink it. Here is an authentic south american product that has the winning combination of tradition, taste and health benefits.Having acquired the taste mate is now on our kitchen shelves and drunk regularly. Argentina's national drink available from our store. Bring out the gaucho in you.
HERBAL TEAS
For many people even the traces of tannin and caffeine in tea are more than they are looking for. For others as the day wears on they switch to herbal teas. We stock a number of herbal teas from Hambleden herbs.
Cotswold Tea are proud to be associated with a series of Tea Companies from around the world. We work with some of the oldest tea companies in the world. These include Mackwoods Tea Ltd of Colombo Sri Lanka and the Poobong Tea Company of Calcutta India. Our products change by the season with the Summer range being available from the third week of May

We insist that for each estate you are able to receive information about the estate, the products and details of how the employees are treated. For each product we provide advice about how the tea should be prepared and its suitability for different purposes. It is this direct link back to the point of production that allows you to make informed choices about your tea. By not using our branding we have ensured that you can see exactly where the tea has come from.

Dear Customers
For a change some Good News! The Shops are OPEN and I am back in the office. My sister has had a wonderful baby boy called Oliver James and they are both doing well. Oliver was born on 21st Feb and is keeping his mum Joanne and Dad Ian very busy!
The new Indian tea is now available so those of you who love the First Flush Assam can refill your cupboards!
I am hopeful that all the recent problems with the virus attack have been sorted out but if anybody has a problem with the site please let me know on the office number or by email as soon as you can. Many thanks to all of you who have helped out so far with this nasty issue. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued loyalty.
